Academic Excellence at Riverside College
At Riverside College, we offer a robust dual curriculum, integrating both the Nigerian and British educational systems to ensure our students receive a well-rounded and globally competitive education.
Nigerian Curriculum
Our students are fully prepared for the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO), as well as the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for junior secondary school students. These examinations assess core competencies and readiness for higher academic pursuits.
British Curriculum
The British curriculum at Riverside College equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in internationally recognised assessments:
- Cambridge Checkpoint Examination – Taken in the 9th year of junior secondary school, assessing proficiency in English Language, Mathematics, and Science.
- International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) – Written in the 11th year of senior secondary school, offering a broad subject selection. Students are encouraged to choose subjects aligned with their future university courses.
Both Cambridge examinations, administered by CAIE (Cambridge Assessments International Education), take place in May/June and October/November, aligning with the Nigerian examination schedule.
Technology-Driven Learning
In line with our commitment to digital literacy and innovation, all examinations at Riverside College are computer-based (CBE). To enhance their learning experience, each student is required to have a mini personal laptop. Additionally, all students must take Information and Communication Technology (ICT), providing a strong foundation for advanced professional certifications in Oracle, Java, Python, and other emerging technologies.

The Entrepreneurship Club is a dynamic platform where students learn the fundamentals of business development, financial literacy, leadership, and innovation.
